The Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee, a group of independent experts on the financial services industry, will hold its first press briefing of 2000 at AEI. Subjects for discussion will include government-sponsored enterprises, international accounting standards, financing the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, fair-value accounting, federal charters for insurance companies, and increasing federal deposit insurance for individual accounts to $200,000.
