The Battle for Ideas in the U.S. War on Terrorism
Monday, October 29, 2001 | 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Wohlstetter Conference Center, Twelfth Floor, AEI 1150 Seventeenth Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036
About This Event
While it has often been noted that the "root cause" of terrorism is the problem of failed regional governance rather than specific issues or grievances, a senior U.S. administration official recently observed that the current war on terrorism will be won not only on a military battlefield but also on the battlefield of ideas. To discuss these issues, as well as the structure for a robust long-term alliance and the principles to guide the war effort, AEI is pleased to announce a panel discussion hosted by AEI scholar Richard N. Perle, featuring former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Newt Gingrich, AEI scholar Michael A. Ledeen, Deputy Prime Minister Nathan Sharansky of Israel, and former CIA director R. James Woolsey.
