April Jobs Numbers: AEI expert on what to expect

"The volatility in the labor market over the previous few months suggests that the economy is still not gaining enough steam to jumpstart a recovery. Given the disappointing March numbers, it is unlikely that this month's report will show a huge improvement. It is likely that the economy will add 120,000-140,000 jobs--small numbers that suggest protracted periods of sluggish growth still lie ahead of us." Aparna Mathur, AEI

American Enterprise Institute (AEI) economist Aparna Mathur, author of a recent popular piece on tracking the unreported unemployment rate, is one of the AEI economists available to comment on tomorrow's jobs numbers. Mathur has worked as a consultant to the World Bank and can be reached at amathur@aei.org.
