Jeffrey Azarva, who researches and writes about Egyptian society, studies Arab politics and democracy. At AEI, he contributes to the
Middle Eastern Outlook series. In addition, he managed the Institute's "Dissent and Reform in the Arab World" conference series and coedited the report
Dissent and Reform in the Arab World: Empowering Democrats. Mr. Azarva has served as a speechwriter and strategic communications adviser for the Multi-National Force-Iraq detention command (Task Force 134) in Baghdad. In these roles, he wrote op-eds in support of Task Force 134's mission and translated and monitored Arab media coverage of coalition detention.
