Last night's vote represents only the first great move in the great game for control of the White House in 2009.

Unless politicians from both sides get their acts together, the recent voting conflict in the U.S. House of Representatives is bad news for the nation.

Don't misunderestimate the difficulty, the greater difficulty, of making policy with united government and slender majorities.
