Getting into a contest with President Obama over who is a better friend of business is not the winner some might think. The water will get very muddy very quickly if Romney campaigns on who is business' BFF, especially when you consider that one of the things Romney did at Bain Capital was take businesses apart.

The president took an extra week to develop his budget, but the extra time was apparently not enough to yield Medicare policies that could produce real savings. Competitive bidding offers a better solution, but only if we are willing to give it a chance.

The President's Medicare plan contains nothing innovative or new, and does not change the structure of the program.

Until the legislative process takes into account the long-term consequences of short-term policy actions (and inactions), we have no assurance that Medicare can be saved.
