According to 18th Air Force Chief of Staff General T. Michael Moseley, the US Air Force is on a dangerous course that could make conflict more likely in the future. On Thursday, in a talk cohosted by the Air Force Association and AEI, General Moseley reviewed the current state of the Air Force and concluded that budget cuts were undermining the service's ability to organize, train, and equip for combat.

He detailed how past conflicts have found the US unprepared, and underscored his fears that the Air Force would not be ready in the future, leading to deadly consequences.  The former Chief of Staff contrasted this lack of preparedness with the true measure of military success: amassing a force so formidable that it shapes international politics in a way that avoids conflict in the first place.
