The move by the Federal Reserve to ease more while extending low interest rate policy and Operation Twist provoked a sharp rally in stock markets.  What will the effect of the Fed’s recent policy actions be?  Has the Fed changed its tune to be more proactive in coming months?  Is inflation coming?

AEI economists John Makin and Stephen Oliner discussed these questions and more on a conference call hosted by AEI's Nick Schulz.

John Makin is a long-time Fed watcher with experience in academia, financial markets, and policy advising.  Makin has advised the US Treasury, the Federal Reserve, and various financial institutions in his extensive career.

Stephen D. Oliner joined AEI after more than 25 years at the Federal Reserve Board.  Oliner was most recently a senior adviser in the Division of Research and Statistics. He was actively involved in the Fed's analysis of the U.S. economy and financial markets over the past two decades.

Nick Schulz is DeWitt Wallace Fellow at AEI and the Editor-in-Chief of American.com, the online journal of AEI.
